The Swallow’s Tail Association, Zagreb / HR

The Swallow’s Tail Association / Zagreb

The Swallow’s Tail Association is an NGO that was founded in 2004, and its members include around fifteen highly educated members from Zagreb. The main goals of our association are to promote true human values, foster creativity and tolerance, help others develop a sense of art and culture, encourage civil and ecological awareness, help people develop personally and improve the life quality of individuals, children, youth, social groups and society in general. Our purpose is to encourage an appreciation of the environment, art, culture and encourage creativity through education and presentation, and our areas of activity reflect this purpose.

In the work so far, our association has run many successful art workshops in villages near Zagreb under the sponsorship of the municipality of Brdovec and Zagreb county. Our project “Phoenix”, a program to teach fire prevention, was successfully conducted from 2004 to 2013 in around fifty schools with the sponsorship of the county institute for spatial planning and environmental protection. In 2005, with sponsorship from the same institute, our association carried out a project called “The Well” in which we organized the village children and, together with their parents, made a brand-new children’s park around the old public water well. Our main project “A Salt Doll” has now running for twelve years under the sponsorship of the Zagreb city office for social protection and people with disabilities. This is an additional school educational program where we teach children non-violent ways to communicate and talk about quality leisure time through techniques such as making puppets and creating animations. Our project leader, Margareta Peršić, was a guest in the Volksschule Geidorf in Graz project “Mein geheimer Freund” in April 2011.

The Swallow’s Tail Association works to unite education and the performing and stage arts with environmental awareness through recycling, upcycling and waste awareness activities.
